COURAGE : Master of Fear

I define courage as (1)strength when there is pain, grief and (2)resilience when nothing works. (3)It is having no doubt that what you believe in, will happen.

Simply, courage brings certainty for now and the future. No wonder whenever we go through trials, we always see God come through when we most need Him because we are certain He is in the situation.

I am reminded of David. God asked Him to fight and kill Goliath in His (God) name. With the history of Goliath, any one that wants to fight him needs my third definition of courage. David had no single doubt about God delivering the philistine into his hands, hear this : Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God[1] (this was David) and when David’s brother got angry and Saul also said to David that Goliath is not any one David can just face: let me remind you of David display of resilience

Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, 35 I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it.36 Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. 37 The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”[2]

Here, David showed resilience in his thoughts, He remembered how God fought His battles and delivered him in the past and He does not have a doubt that God will do so again.

This may be you, you may be going through a trial now, huge one for that matter but take a moment and look back at how God had come through in the past. He will come through again.

Thank God for David’s courage, thank God that we have an example and many other examples that we can be reminded of, of God being God.

Now you may be reading this and have an uncircumcised philistine troubling you, one planning to take away your joy, another wanting to make you stop trusting God, a stubborn one that have said they will see your end, no, they are not fit to take you on, therefore take this opportunity to speak into that situation.

I have shared a number of times about a time of challenge in my life, of course I murmured but to my surprise, God did not chastise me. Instead, He told me “I will make your faith stand” and he did it. At some point, it seems the breakthrough I received was slipping away from me, then he sent me another Rhema word, “Feyikemi, When man opens a door, man can shut it. But when I (God) opens a door, no man can shut it” therefore relax. I am in control. Now I tell you this was the turning point for me. The turning point was not when He came through in the first place. The turning point was the Rhema word He gave me that I am running with every day of my life.

In this present trial, challenge and disappointments you are faced with or experiencing, what is the courageous Rhema word God has given you? David’s Rhema word was that God rescued him from those wild animals how much more Goliath, an uncircumcised one? Mine was c’mon, child, a door that I the Lord opened, no, no man can move near it not to talk of shutting it.

I asked again, what is your Rhema word? Are you attentive enough to hear it or are you allowing yourself to be consumed by the whole scenario surrounding you? You have heard it, have you received it? You have received it, are you running with it?

You can run with it by confessing it. I imagine David confessing his Rhema word when he was confronted by the bear saying the Lord who rescued me from the paws of the Lion will rescue me from the bear and when He was about to meet with Goliath, He confessed it again.

Of course, we will experience set backs and fear will want to set in but show fear through the grace of God who its master is, by reminding your self of God’s numerous promises and confessing your Rhema word.

I encourage you, be courageous, show great resilience when the need arises and allow God complete His works.

You are victorious and your joy shall be full.
