What You Need To Grow

I was at the Zurich international airport last year, en route to Nigeria. I had few expenses at this time therefore not the time to indulge in unnecessary expenses. However, here I was at the airport staring at Chocolates and contemplating whether to buy some for friends and family back home. I told myself it was the right thing to do. I cannot go home empty handed. At the same time, I murmured ,”Jesus is Lord”, when does this spending end? The chocolates I really wanted ranged between $100 to $120. I eventually picked them and took them to the till. The store attendant scanned them and behold, they had been reduced to $48. She noticed my surprised look and confirmed the prices had been discounted. My conclusion that moment was “a stingy person cannot do great things in life. It will be a struggle for them to go far. They will not be able to do anything for people around them or themselves”. It is a dangerous quality to possess.

Why?

I had a similar encounter prior to my journey to Nigeria. I saw a flyer and I needed to join the seminar. I believe it was needed for my growth. It was a paid seminar. I hesitated because I had a lot of financial commitments ahead of me but proceeded. I found it was 4 times lesser than the amount I had anticipated, (just as I got discount for the chocolates). I learnt so much at this seminar in one weekend that I proceeded to join the community. Joining this community is enhancing my growth. It was what I needed to grow. I can see that this investment in my growth is doing me a lot of good and drawing me closer to my vision.

So yes, I reflected on this after my experience at the airport and I concluded that there are two things we cannot afford to do with our growth:

✅ We must not delay our growth. The time to grow is now.
✅ Writing down your goals is not enough, identifying what you need to actualise them is also key.
✅ We have to invest in our growth, we must not be stingy.
Stinginess can deprive you of a lot of good things in life and it can cause setback. It can cause you not to extend your hands to others or think of others and this is a selfish spirit.

Therefore, I encourage you in this season, make plans to grow so that you can help others grow…Be generous to yourself with your money and time.

I will leave you with Proverbs 11: 25: A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

To our growth

I love writing, singing, cooking, reading and I enjoy life. I believe that life comes in seasons and these seasons could be challenging, discouraging, joyful and when you find yourself in any of this season, embrace it, learn from it, and above all, never ever give up..

Oh Yes. Thank you Dolapo commitment is very important as I reminded my children this morning. It is not enough to dream big but we have to be committed to our dream

God loves and respects our acts of kindness and love. Givers never lack as they say. It doesn’t matter whether one is a christian or not. The biblical Cornelius was not a believer, yet God reckoned with him because of his act of giving to the poor. God even warned Peter not to call him unclean. May God teach us his secrets.

This is very insightful Ayoola. Judging anyone on the basis of belief is not Christlike…When we know good we must do it. It becomes good when we do not irrespective of who we are. We receive the grace to show love to others.
